I am educated up to Post-Graduate level (Management) and worked for many years as a senior Administrator in Kampala, London, Brussels and Watford. At one point I was the Office manager for the Brussels office of a leading UK Law Firm. Overlapping with my work, I also have nearly 25 years of experience supporting young people with intellectual disabilities. Initially, this overlap came about as I was also caring and supporting my own disabled son for 18 years. After giving up paid work to be readily available for my son, I directed my energy and free time to volunteering in and around St Albans, Hertfordshire. I have volunteered or worked at:
Earthworks, www.earthworksstalbans.co.uk,
a horticulture therapy project for people of all abilities, (2010 to date),
I was also a Parent School Governor for about 4 years to 2011 at Penhurst School in Oxfordshire, a school for children with Profound and Multiple Learning, now closed but run by Action for Children www.actionforchildren.org.uk (still active). I worked with Special Kids Agency as an after school support worker (April 2015 to June 2018) for I am also an ‘as and when needed’ volunteer for Trestle Arts Theatre in St Albans www.trestle.org.uk. Away from disability projects, I have been on my Church Social Committee since 2000 (St Saviours St. Albans) and I am an Ambassador for Send A Cow. www.sendacow.org. I give talks and presentations about this charity that works in various African countries. I am very happy to supply references from current clients and as well as from ex-employers. Where relevant, I am also happy to share my CV with you if we get to the stage where you wish to engage me. |
